2023 Chevrolet Montana: With the Comfort of an SUV and the Versatility of a Pickup

The new generation of the compact pickup debuts with a double cabin and a four-door body, which offers a capacity of five passengers, in addition to having an 874-liter cargo box. Your engine? The same 1.2 l turbo of 130 hp from the Tracker.

Thanks to a premiere via YouTube, Chevrolet has finally unveiled the new Montana, the latest generation of which will come from Brazil to compete with rivals such as the Ford Maverick, Renault Oroch and Ram 1000, among others. His arrival in Chile should take place in 2023.

As we told you before, the new Montana is built on the same platform as the current Onix, Onix Plus and Tracker. Thus, it becomes 4.72 meters long and 1.8 meters wide, offering for the first time a double cabin and four doors, with a real capacity for five passengers.

According to the brand, these dimensions also allow it to have “the best use of interior space in the segment. There is at least 20 millimeters more knee room for the rear passenger than in other competing vehicles,” he says.

Along with that, its Multi-Flex cargo box is designed to function as a kind of trunk with a capacity of 874 liters. In addition, it has a wide range of personalized accessories that allow hundreds of solutions for the transport of various types of goods.

According to the firm, one of the biggest complaints from pickup truck owners is the lack of tightness in the cargo box. Therefore, a sealing system for the “maritime hood” has been developed, designed for those who intend to use the box as a giant trunk or for those who want a higher level of protection when transporting ‘objects.

Chevrolet Montana: SUV look and comfort

Regarding its design, the new Chevrolet Montana adopts the new overall Chevrolet design identity, which is characterized by LED daytime running lights separated from the main headlight and placed in the upper part of the front.

Likewise, its rugged lines, muscular hood and sloping windshield stand out, in addition to the small jump at the waist where the C-pillar gives way to the cargo box. According to the brand, it is the typical silhouette of SUVs.

There’s also no shortage of moldings throughout the vehicle’s base, including its bumpers, fenders and doors. Its material and color contrast with the rest of the bodywork, making the car appear even higher off the ground. The 17-inch wheels reinforce this adventurous aspect.

At the rear stands a bar finished in gloss black that connects the taillights and the legend “Chevrolet” embossed on the lid of the cargo box, which has an electric opening.

Its impressive exterior is combined with a worked and technological interior. It inaugurates an 8″ MyLink screen unified with the dashboard, as the brand’s most recent models already do. Its multimedia system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay offers standard Wi-Fi with an Internet signal up to 12 times more stable, in addition to the OnStar telematics program which, among other things, sends an automatic response in the event of a collision to the center emergency.

Chevrolet Montana: driving and safety on board

The Montana shares most of its components with the Tracker, such as the 1.2-liter turbo engine with 130 hp and 210 Nm of peak torque. Characteristics that can be managed via a six-speed manual gearbox, or an automatic with the same number of reports. It will only have a single pull.

In safety, and depending on the version, it will offer six airbags (front, side and curtain), full LED headlights, blind spot alert, emergency braking, tire pressure monitoring, traction control , hill start assist, etc.
