New car sales fall 19% in November, bearish curve hits fourth consecutive month

The truck segment was the only one to post blue numbers in the penultimate month of the year.

The sale of new light and medium vehicles again fell sharply. According to information provided by the National Automobile Association of Chile, during the month of November 31,708 units were sold, 18.7% less than in the same period of the previous year, extending the downward curve that started in August and which in October reached -25.7%

With the registrations of the penultimate month of 2022, the cumulative number is 392,845 units, the highest historical record of these eleven months, which fuels the hope of reaching the objective of reaching 420,000 units in the year.

When analyzing the report issued by ANAC, the truck segment stands out, as it was the only category that showed blue numbers compared to November 2021. In this case, pickup trucks delivered 6,765 units, which means an increase of 2.4%.

The rest of the segments saw sharp declines, indeed, Commercial Vehicles fell by 42.4% (3,233 units), Passengers fell by 34% (7,105 units), and SUVs fell by 8, 6% (14,605), compared to the same period of the previous year. .

In the year-to-date by segment, trucks are also the one with the highest percentage growth (+20.3%), although the one with the highest sales continues to be that of SUVs, with 174,732 units. .

By brand, the ranking remains topped by Chevrolet, a firm that is virtually guaranteed to finish as the best-selling firm in the country again. In the rest of the top 10, there was no change from last month.
