It’s here: the best version of the popular Chevrolet Sail

The successful bow-tie sedan is presented in its third generation, equipped with six airbags as standard and priced starting at $11,490,000.

At the beginning of the month we already announced its arrival, but today the launch of the new Chevrolet Sail in Chile is official. We are talking about the third generation of one of the most popular cars of recent times in the country, which for a decade was the best-selling in its segment, with 113,000 units sold to date.

“Today we embark on a new journey with the thousands of Chilean families who trust our tradition as a brand. We are proud to launch a new version of “Chile’s favorite”, the Chevrolet Sail. We adapt a classic to today’s needs, mixing its attributes such as energy efficiency, space and comfort, with new elements of safety and comfort”, explained Sebastián Caballero, marketing director of General Motors.

The 2024 Chevrolet Sail is powered by the new 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which generates 98 hp with 142 Nm of torque. It can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox (previously five) or a CVT – available for the first time on this car.

This Euro 6C block has an approved consumption of 18.6 km/l on the motorway and 11.3 km/l in the city, in the case of the manual versions. With the automatic transmission, it delivers 18.9 km/l and 10.6 km/l respectively.

Compared to the previous model, it increases the dimensions. It now measures 4,490mm long, 1,490mm high and 1,695mm wide, with a wheelbase of 2,550mm. The trunk’s loading capacity is 475 liters, or 100 liters more.

The new Chevrolet Sail is available in three equipment versions (LT MT, LTZ MT and LTZ AT). The entry-level version has a 3.5” TFT dashboard, air conditioning, electric windows, radio with Bluetooth, USB port, LED daytime running lights, fabric upholstery and electric mirrors, among others.

When it comes to safety, the inclusion of six standard airbags stands out, in addition to ABS+EBD brakes, stability control, four-wheel disc brakes and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

The LTZ MT version adds a reversing camera and sensor, an 8″ touchscreen with connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 15″ alloy wheels.

Finally, the LTZ CVT variant modifies or adds 15″ alloy wheels with a high-end design and central armrest to the previous one.

Prices? LT MT ($11,590,000), LTZ MT ($12,390,000) and LTZ AT ($13,390,000). It is available in five colors (red, white, silver, gray and blue).

Chevrolet plans to sell 400 units of the Sail per month, with the Kia Soluto, Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Grand i10 Sedan as its main competitors.
