One month from the end of the year: sales of new vehicles fall by 19.2%

The weakness of the national economy continues to affect the automotive sector, which would close a year under normal conditions.

The National Automobile Association of Chile (Anac) has published a new report that confirms economic activity that still remains weak and with restrictions on access to financing that persist for families and entrepreneurs, which has brought sales down to levels considered normal.

In the month of November, 25,630 units were sold, recording a decrease of 19.2% compared to the same month of the previous year. Thus, in the cumulative annual figure for 2023, 286,762 new vehicles were sold, which reflects a contraction of 27%, compared to the same period of 2022.

This performance continues to be reflected in all categories, in passenger vehicles it fell by 19.7% in November, vans fell by 20.8%, while utility vehicles (-28.7%) and SUVs (-16.1%) did the same during the same month. , compared to the same period last year.

This weakness in the Chilean economy also continues to affect the regions, with the exception of Magallanes, which grew by 20% and Tarapacá, which recorded an increase of 5.1% compared to the same month of November last year.

With one month to go until 2023 closes, the best-selling brand so far is Toyota with 23,961 units (8.4% market share), followed by Chevrolet with 19,477 units (6.8%) and the The top three is closed by Hyundai with 18,859 units (6.6%).
