“Chaleco” López tests the most powerful UTV in the world

This is the Can-Am Maverick R, which, with 240 horsepower, is now available in Chile.

Less than a week after participating in his 13th Dakar, Francisco “Chaleco” López took it upon himself to test the new Can-Am Maverick R, a UTV of Canadian origin and imported into the country by Motor Doo, with which he completed the 1,500 meter circuit on the Ritoque dunes.

“Even though we can travel to Dakar, but we are content to experience new sensations from this new Cam Am Maverick R, which is a car that we hope to have already had a time since it was launched at world level in social networks and also observed videos from him. Now it’s very different when you get on the seat and experience the first sensations. This factory from time to time releases these new models like the R, which is a very advanced car for this type of activity like off-roading.

Recall that the Can-Am Maverick R arrived in Chile a few days ago, announcing itself as the UTV with the most powerful combustion engine in the world. It is powered by a 999 cc T Rotax 3-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 240 horsepower. Power managed by a seven-speed DCT transmission.

“The biggest difference is that this car has seven speeds compared to the other model which had a centrifugal clutch. Additionally, it has an automatic gearbox and paddle shifters, added to a dual clutch. For me, as a driver, it’s the most entertaining and it makes a big difference. Additionally, it has an oddly shaped suspension with these arms that make it very effective when jumping. It’s very stable. Fábrica has always been a pioneer in terms of evolution. From today we present this new Can-Am 2024 version that opens the doors for us to continue growing, developing and enjoying this great product. »

Also present during the demonstration was Rodrigo Ramírez, Commercial Director of Motor Doo, who added: “Can-Am has taken on the challenge of maintaining an engine within the regulations of the UTV category worldwide. In fact, it is in the FIA regulations which go up to 1000cc as we could see on the Dakar where there are two categories like Side by Side and Challenger, where Chaleco López raced, with engines that can go up to 1000cc. cc with mechanical or automatic transmission or CVT. “Fábrica did not want to abandon these parameters to maintain the category and not have to move to another series like cars or others.”

“As Motor Doo, which represents Can-Am in Chile, we have a network of 22 dealerships from Antofagasta to Punta Arenas, with distributors and technical services in these same cities and others. We have our headquarters at Av. Vitacura 7739, where you can see this Maverick R model. We always have a unit available for testing, as well as at our distributors, where it is already selling very well from a price that starts in the 60s (…) millions of pesos,” he stressed.
