It’s not just the police who measure speed Road Safety Trustees (KFV) Checks compliance with speed limits. KFV carried out 23 million speed measurements across Austria last year with 230 side radar devices discreetly placed on the roadside. The result is worrying: “Austria is a country of speed enthusiasts,” says Klaus Robatsch, head of traffic safety at KFV. 30 regions in particular turned out to be the main problem: 72 percent of vehicles in the 30 local regions across Austria were driving too fast, and in Carinthia the figure was as high as 85 percent. More than 1.5 million measurements were taken at 39 locations, including four in Carinthia.
