Rick and Morty will part ways with Justin Roiland and seek other actors to play their characters

Adult Swim has severed its relationship with the series co-creator due to the recent domestic violence accusations against him.

Justin Roiland will no longer be actively linked to rick and morty. While Roiland will remain the co-creator of the popular animated show, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Adult Swim had decided to sever their relationship with him following the recent abuse allegations against him.

As you will recall, at the beginning of January it was reported that Roiland was charged with domestic violence and faces trial for felony domestic assault with bodily harm and felony false imprisonment for threat, violence, fraud and/or deception.

So, although Roiland claims he would be innocent, Adult Swim chose to end their relationship with him.

“Adult Swim has terminated its association with Justin Roiland”, Mairie Moore, vice president of communications for Adult Swim/Cartoon Network/Boomerang, said in a statement picked up by The Hollywood Reporter.

Roiland not only co-created rick and morty with Dan Harmon, who will remain the series’ sole showrunner going forward; but he was also responsible for performing the voices of Morty, Rick, and other secondary characters such as Mr. Poopybutthole. In this sense, The Hollywood Reporter assures that the future of the series is in no doubt and will only continue with more actors in the roles of Roiland.
