They delay the premiere of “Godzilla Minus One”, announced in less than 10 cinemas in Spain

Scheduled for this same December 1st, some theaters indicate that it will be released on the 7th of this month.

Godzilla minus one, a Japanese production from Toho that marks a new beginning for the Godzilla saga, was originally released in Japan on October 18 and was released in the United States today, December 1. The film, directed by Takashi Yamazaki, is set in post-war Japan, a country devastated after World War II. This context serves as the backdrop for Godzilla’s arrival, further worsening the country’s situation. Despite its success in Japan and the United States, the film’s release in Spain, scheduled for December 1stexperienced some setbacks.

Initially, Piece of Magic, the Dutch distributor who obtained distribution rights in Europe, announced that the film would be shown in ten Spanish cinemas, some of which belong to the Kinepolis chain. However, on November 30, a day before the scheduled release, theaters they deleted the film of its billboard because of “problems beyond the exponents”. The lack of communication from the distributor, which does not have offices in Spain, and the limited number of cinemas in cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza, Alicante and Granada, added uncertainty to the premiere.

As other cinemas like Palafox have revealed, they are also delaying the premiere until the 7th. The situation of Godzilla Minus One in Spain has become more complicated, with the cancellation of its premiere in cinemas like Kinepolis, where the Tickets were already sold. Despite this, the Filmax Gran Vía cinema in Barcelona is maintaining an event scheduled for December 10.

This treatment of Godzilla Minus One in Spain contrasts with the popularity of the Legendary version, which includes the Monarch series on Apple TV+ and the upcoming release of Godzilla x Kong. Additionally, early reviews of the film have been very positive, calling it the best Godzilla film in 70 years.
