Masahiro Sakurai says his work on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is over

“My work on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is almost finished. Thanks for everything,” the director wrote via Twitter.

Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Super Smash Bros. announced that With the release of Sora’s Amiibo, his work on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is over.

Through a publication on X (formerly Twitter), the developer published some images of the amiibo where he announced the news while emphasizing the quality of the figurine.

“Thank you to everyone who worked on this (it was an incredible achievement). The design has always been perfect and the details and colors are exactly what we expected. The pose and sculpt also look nice,” he noted, later adding, “Now that all the fighters have an Amiibo, my work on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is almost finished. Thank you for everything”.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released in 2018 and Sora was the last character to join in 2021, after which the game only had a few minor content updates.

It should be remembered that Sakurai opened a YouTube channel to refer to video game development but recently announced that he would stop uploading videos, suspected of being to focus on his next project.
