Although it is sometimes confused, the CBD It’s not a drug. It is one of the more than 100 compounds that can be found in the plant of the dope. But it is neither smoked nor stoned. According to experts, it is not harmful: they say quite the opposite, that its properties have pharmacological actions, that is, that they can produce beneficial effects in our body.
More and more clinical trials are trying to demonstrate it. The last one assures that CBD or cannabidol can help slow aging protecting various organs and the immune system. These are the main conclusions of the research carried out by the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid in collaboration with Phexia, the first CBD brand created by a medical team.
The study has analyzed how our body behaves during the aging phase. “People get rusty because a part of the oxygen we breathe, instead of going to the body’s energy production, goes to the production of free radicals,” says Dr. Jesús A. Fernández-Tresguerres, head and principal investigator of the study.
“Not only do they act on the skin and damage it, but they also damage all tissues and organs of the body, which gradually deteriorates us,” adds the doctor. He concludes that the oxidation of cells accelerates this aging process, affecting all tissues and causing the deterioration of several organs.
“A great ally”
Together with Fernández-Tresguerres, the researchers have observed how cannabidol acts positively as protective against injuries generated in the liver, lung, muscles or immune system. For him, “a substance like CBD is a great ally since it is capable of blocking the oxidation process that leads to an inflammation process and a process of programmed cell death“.
The study was carried out for 10 weeks with 14 old ‘Long Evans’ rats, 15 months old, which were divided into two groups: one was given normal food and the other was included with 10mg/kg of CBD daily. the menu. Chronic treatment in animals showed beneficial effects in the lung and liver by reducing the levels of inflammatory and oxidative mediators and, therefore, the cell damage associated with aging processes.
An increasingly used substance
A previous step, perhaps, to discover the anti-aging effect of CBD on our skin. And how to stop the oxidation of our cells that gives rise to wrinkles. A fact that many dream of, but that is still in the initial stages Of the investigation.
At the moment, what seems to be proven is that it is ‘safe’ for cosmetic products, according to the World Health Organization. Which means that there are more and more creams, balms or oils with this component to try to fight against age.
