Mayim Bialikwho played Amy Farrah Fowler in The Big Bang Theoryconfirmed it Flower will be restarted.
Bialik played Blossom Russo in the 1990s series when she was still a teenager.
In the interview for Vanity Fair, the actress stated that the new series will see the return of the original actors, creators and producers.
“I’m happy to say yes, it’s true. The entire original cast, creators and producers are on board and we believe a reboot can and should exist once the strike is over.”
The Blossom reboot won’t be like the original
Again according to Bialik, the reboot will feature some changes, it will stop being a sitcom and become a more serious drama.
“We hope to reboot it not as a sitcom. We want to bring these interesting and profound characters back to life – a child of divorce, a recovering drug addict, an alcoholic – to see them in a whole new way.”
The actress has already spoken about returning to Blossom
In 2021, Mayim Bialik commented in an interview with Weekly entertainment about his hopes of returning to Blossom together with Don Reothe creator of the series.
“I might start a fan campaign to see if we can do that, because we’d like people to see where these characters are,” the actress said.
“[Reo] and I talked about it and decided, after literally years of trying to work on it, that I would probably say it out loud. We have a well-formulated idea and we would like someone to allow us to realize it,” she added.
Bialik debuted on the series alongside Joey Lawrence, Jenna Von Oy and Michael Stoyanov, which followed the life of 15-year-old Blossom Russo living with her single father and two brothers.
The series stood out for being one of the first shows to show an unconventional family, as the protagonist’s parents are separated. Additionally, there was a special appearance of characters from other series, such as Alf, the Eternal.
The program aired between 1991 and 1995, for a total of five seasons and 114 episodes.
