The second episode of the series Loki showed a desperate moment when General Dox (Kate Dickie) puts his plan to thin out the multiverse into action.
Thanks to Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Silvia (Sofia Di Martino) and Mobius (Owen Wilson), Dox failed to carry out his plan, but unfortunately the damage was enormous.
As a result, many questions have arisen about how many and which alternative universes have been eliminated. And what if among these pruned universes there was that of Spider-Man Tobey Maguire is that of Andrea Garfield.
The director answers which universes have been pruned
In an interview for the Screen triggering, director Dan DeLeeuw revealed that some universes are still safe, including those of the aforementioned Spider-Men. And he added that he knows which universes have not been pruned, although he did not specify which ones.
“We’ve been playing with some of these ideas. We didn’t specify who would go, but I definitely made my list of who would continue. But it’s something that’s been fun. I started working in the first season on visual effects, so I took part in the birth of the multiverse, and then in the second season I took part in the explosion of the multiverse. [Risos] Which is cool, Alpha and Omega, in terms of what’s happening story-wise.
Could Loki Season 2 Redefine the MCU?
Phases 5 and 6 of the MCU were about the war against Kang (Jonathan Majors) and its countless variants that want to dominate the multiverse.
Thanks to the multiverse there have already been some production crossovers like in animation What would happen if…?AND Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
While cameos from characters like Mr. Fantastic and Charles Xavier may be tossed around, the big pruning in Loki season 2 could signal a soft reboot of the MCU.
This could not only bring new characters to the MCU, but also the return of old favorites like Captain America Chris Evans and Iron Man Robert Downey Junior.
It is rumored that this pruning may be linked to an idea of Kevin Feige to eliminate everything that doesn’t work in the MCU and keep only what works.
This could affect several shows and films in the future, as well as the next phases of the MCU.
Loki Season 2 may have caused a “new beginning” in the MCU.
