Loki’s new power breaks the MCU’s time travel logic

In the fifth episode of the second season of Lokithe god of mischief, Loki, gains a new superpower that breaks all the rules of time travel established thus far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

He develops a new personal time travel power, called “time slip”, which allows him to travel freely to any place and time in the timeline.

This new power for Loki has significant implications considering how time travel has worked previously in the MCU.

Does Loki’s season slip break the MCU’s time travel rule?

In Avengers: Endgame It has been established that the past cannot be changed by anyone’s intervention, however it creates new temporal ramifications.

However, with the power of seasonal scrolling, Loki can alter any timeline, returning to the past and undoing events, creating a new present and future.

With this, he can even repair the Time Variance Authority (AVT) before it explodes, restoring it completely.

Now Loki has the power to rewrite his own present and future, something that had already been shown in previous episodes of the series, but now he has complete control over this ability.

Why doesn’t it matter if Loki breaks the MCU rule?

Despite breaking the MCU’s time travel rules, it doesn’t matter that Loki has this new superpower. This is because this ability is linked to Loki’s character development over the course of the season.

It represents his evolution as a character, where he finally finds purpose, rejects his family, and refuses to follow the destiny that was forced upon him.

Loki can control his “time slip” because he refuses to let his story play out as it always has, choosing to write a new story for himself in the MCU.
