One of the best known roles of Julia Louis-Dreyfus is Elaine Benes, who starred for nine seasons of seinfeld. However, at the beginning of the series this role was not so satisfying for her.
In an interview for the The daily beastthe actress said she had constant conversations with the creators of the series, Larry David AND Jerry Seinfeldand asked Elaine for more Seinfeld scenes.
“Well, I’ve never really approached it in terms of my genre, per se. I just wanted to play ball with everyone. I’m not going to lie, at first, there wasn’t always that much going on in certain episodes. And I went to Larry and Jerry several times and said, “Hi, email me more, I need to be on this show more.” This is what I continued to do. And they did.
“But look, they didn’t write me as a woman. They just wrote it for me, for this character at odds with this genre, which I think is instructive in a lot of ways from a writing perspective,” the actress added.
