Minister Magnus Brunner has appointed Elisabeth Gruber to head the Department of the Treasury’s Presidency. Gruber has held this position on a temporary basis since July 2022.
The Presidential division was upgraded this year due to the abolition of the general secretary of the department and the consolidation of its duties in the new presidential division.

Before joining the Ministry of Finance, the law and business graduate worked for twenty years as a lawyer in one of the most renowned commercial law firms in Vienna. Having served as a department head of the Investments and Services group since 2015 in the Ministry of Finance head office presidential area since 2017, Gruber defeated a total of eight applicants. It was unanimously recommended by the responsible evaluation committee.
In addition, the Ministry of Finance reported to the APA that it has reduced its advertising and promotion expenditures by more than half compared to the previous year, and even by a third compared to 2020. For information campaigns in print, TV, radio and the Internet, 4.1 million euros were spent this year, compared to 9.7 million euros the previous year and 12.3 million euros in 2020.
