There was a knife attack in Kapfenberg, Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district, on Saturday night. The police were alerted at around 3:40 a.m. after two men (48, 57 years old) got into an argument in the stairwell of a residential building for unknown reasons. When they arrived, the police found a visibly seriously injured man (48) under a staircase in the basement. He was barely responsive and had several stab wounds to his upper body and thigh. Police officers provided first aid until the Red Cross arrived. The 48-year-old was taken to the LKH Graz, where he underwent emergency surgery in the early hours of the morning. The man’s life is in danger.
Suspect was arrested
The 57-year-old suspect was arrested at the crime scene. He is said to have attacked his 48-year-old friend with a kitchen knife during an argument. The 57-year-old has so far denied any suspicion of the crime. He was heavily intoxicated at the time of his arrest. He is currently in custody. A ban on entry and approach as well as a temporary ban on weapons were issued against him. Criminal investigators from the LKA Niklasdorf branch have started the investigation. According to previous investigations, the two men may have attended a party together the night before before they got into an argument in the 57-year-old’s apartment. The exact background is still unclear.
