Conference League round of 16 play-offs

The draws for the UEFA Conference League play-offs took place on Monday afternoon after those for the Champions League and the Europa League. They have fixed the play-off matches that the Conference League group stage finalists will play against the “relegated” teams from the Europa League. The only Italian team participating in the tournament is Fiorentina, finalists of the last edition, but who are already assured of a place in the round of 16 after finishing their group in first place.

How draws work

A total of sixteen teams were drawn, divided between the eight “seeded” teams (second in the Conference League groups) and the eight “unseeded” teams (relegated from the Europa League). Each playoff is therefore made up of a seeded team and an unseeded team. During this round, two teams from the same country could not yet be drawn in the same match.

The sixteen teams

The Conference League group runners-up were Bodø/Glimt, Dinamo Zagreb, Ferencvaros, Eintracht Frankfurt, Gent, Legia Warsaw, Ludogorets Razgrad and Slovan Bratislava. The third-placed teams in the Europa League groups were Ajax, Maccabi Haifa, Molde, Olympiacos, Real Betis Sevilla, Servette, Sturm Graz and Union Saint-Gilloise.

Play-off dates

The Conference League will resume in February with the play-offs, the first legs of which are scheduled for Thursday February 15 and the return matches for Thursday February 22. The winners of the play-offs will qualify for the round of 16, where they will meet eight teams already qualified: Aston Villa, Club Brugge, Fenerbahce, FlorentinLille, Maccabi Tel Aviv, PAOK Thessaloniki and Viktoria Plzen.
