4-year doping ban for Juventus star Pogba

French football star Paul Pogba was banned for 4 years for doping. The Juventus midfielder tested positive for testosterone after a Serie A match against Udinese in August and was temporarily withdrawn from the match by Italy’s anti-doping agency NADO shortly afterwards. The 2018 world champion is threatened with an inglorious end to his career.

According to Sky Sport Italia and “La Repubblica” newspaper, the anti-doping prosecutor’s request to impose a four-year ban on the 30-year-old player was approved. Pogba admitted that he was taking a food supplement that stated performance-enhancing ingredients in its package insert.

His last hope now lies with the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland. According to information received from Sky Italia television channel, Pogba is determined to apply to court in Lausanne.

The French player, who returned to Juventus from Manchester United in 2022, had struggled with numerous injuries and knee surgeries before his suspension. That’s why Pogba was not used much and he also missed the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He was not used in the match against Udine either, only sitting on the bench.
