Henry Cavill’s planned cameo as Superman in The Flash is likely to fall victim to scissors. At least that’s what the American media suspects after the Briton lost his role as a superhero in the DC Cinematic Universe. In a solo movie, The Flash is scheduled for June 2023.
Henry Cavill starred in the last movie in the DC Universe. In Black Adam, Superman also made a cameo appearance. This was in October 2022. That same month, Cavill promised to return big profits in an enthusiastic Instagram video.
Henry Cavill too old to be Superman?
But after just a few weeks, the actor had to back off. Also on Instagram, Cavill announced that he would be replaced as Superman. New DC Universe bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran are likely planning a reboot with a younger actor. Guardians of the Galaxy director Gunn, who recently moved to DC from Marvel, is working on the Superman script. When Cavill celebrated his return in October, Gunn and Safran were not yet at their post. The new dual leadership had to endure quite a bit of criticism online for firing Cavill.
Henry Cavill reacted sportively to his resignation. “Changing of the guard is what happens. I respect it. James and Peter have to build an entire universe.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the perpetrators are said to have vaguely promised him another role.
Gal Gadot has to say goodbye too
Along with Superman, Wonder Woman also fell victim to Gunn and Safran’s reorganization. At least in the incarnation of Gal Gadot. A planned third Wonder Woman movie has already been delayed. Gal Gadot is said to have made a cameo appearance in The Flash, just like Henry Cavill. Fans will probably never see this performance either.
