The anguish of living without news of the hostages captured by Hamas: “They do not inform us that they are dead”

Israel is getting closer to launching an offensive in the Gaza Strip with the aim of locating the more than 100 hostages who were kidnapped last Saturday after the Hamas attack. For this reason, since Friday he has requested the evacuation of northern Gaza. Netanyahu’s Israeli government has already confirmed the identity of 97 of the hostages.

One of the military spokesmen, DanielHagarihas assured that the Israeli authorities are doing everything possible to rescue the hostages, although there is no official list. The coordinator appointed by the Government for the hostage issue, Gal Hirsch, has defended that the authorities are “expanding” their efforts, but has admitted that it is not easy. “It takes time because we are at war,” she said.

The families of the hostages are very distraught and are calling for the immediate release of their loved ones. This is the case of Ricardo Garichaner, who still has no news about his nephew. Omer was at the music festival where 260 people were murdered.

His uncle tells the news about Antena 3 News Weekend, who called his parents to tell them that he heard gunshots. “He hears that there are terrorists,” she explains, “and he tells his parents that he is afraid.”

His parents receive a second call half an hour later, but then nothing until his family recognized him in some images on social networks. The 22-year-old appears tied up and unconscious in the back of a van, guarded by men from the armed wing of Hamas. The Red Cross has tried in vain to get him medication.

This is also the case with Alex. The 75-year-old history professor lived in one of the kibbutz attacked by Hamas. Mikhal Dekel, a friend of his, tells us that he is a very sick man. “She suffered a heart attack two years ago. She had kidney disease,” she explained.

He is not the only old man to be captured, Adina is another. Her granddaughter Anat Moshe has had to see images of her grandmother trapped on a motorcycle between two Hamas members. “She had to hold on to the terrorist who had just murdered her husband,” she says.

“We presume that they were taken to Gaza because they are not dead”

From a kibbutz near Gaza, Itzik Horn’s two children have also disappeared: “We presume that they were taken to Gaza because they are not dead, in the kibbutz They are not there, they are not hidden…”, he laments.

9 other hostages die

Hamas has announced the death of nine other hostages due to Israeli bombings in the last 24 hours. Among the deceased are four foreign citizens killed “as a result of Zionist bombings” on the places where they were. Israel estimates that there could be up to 200 hostages held hostage.

Since the announcement of the Israeli ultimatum, thousands of Palestinian families have left their homes for south Wales.
