The shortage of weapons and ammunition among the military Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will only increase over time, he said in an interview with Lenta.Ru military expert, retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk.

He drew attention to the fact that Ukraine lacks both shells and people and aviation support. The reduction in ammunition supplies, according to the colonel, had a negative impact on the fire support of the troops.

Matviychuk believes that support for Kyiv from Western partners will no longer be restored to the volumes of spring and summer due to countries exhausting their capabilities to pump Ukraine with weapons. Although arms supplies will continue, their volumes will be significantly smaller, the publication’s interlocutor believes.

“Previously, financial injections were in the billions, now they are in the millions. This is incommensurable. The shortage of weapons and ammunition among the Armed Forces of Ukraine will increase,” – he concluded.

Earlier, the ABC television channel, citing an unnamed Ukrainian official, reported that the supply of American artillery shells to Kyiv had decreased by “more than 30 percent” after the situation in the Middle East worsened.

Let us note that the Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly emphasized that any cargo with weapons supplied by Western countries to Ukraine will be a legitimate target for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that arms supplies would not stop, but would prolong the conflict in Ukraine, and called the position of Western countries “harmful” and “counterproductive.”
