Lethal weapons were not included in the NATO-Kyiv cooperation program for 2024
As a result of the meeting in the NATO-Ukraine format, a program of cooperation between the alliance and Kiev was approved. It did not include deliveries of lethal weapons, it says statement heads of the Foreign Ministry of the association following the meeting.
According to Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, it was Budapest that insisted on refusing to supply Ukraine with this type of weapon.
“Such a step could entail the risk of escalating the conflict“, he explained during a press conference after the meeting.
The diplomat also noted that Hungary insisted on one more condition. We are talking about point No. 2 of the program, which provides for voluntary participation in supporting Ukraine.
