Today, the meaning of making efforts to revive the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) is in question, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the first plenary meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Skopje in North Macedonia. He noted that this organization is now becoming an appendage of NATO and the European Union.

“The OSCE, in essence, is being turned into an appendage of NATO and the European Union. The organization – let’s face it frankly – is on the brink of an abyss. A simple question arises: does it make sense to invest in its revitalization?” – said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

In addition, Lavrov also wondered whether the organization would be able to adapt to the objective realities of global development and once again become a platform where regional security problems would be objectively considered. So far, as Lavrov noted, “there are many more questions than answers.”
