More than 5.3 thousand children have died since the escalation of the conflict between Palestine and Israel. This was stated by the head of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Catherine Russell.

“Before the pause, more than 5,300 Palestinian children were reportedly killed in 48 days of incessant bombing.”,” RIA Novosti quotes her as saying.

Russell noted that if the conflict returns to its previous level of tension after the end of the truce, then it can be assumed that every day the number of child victims will grow and number in the hundreds.

Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces announced that it had hit new Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

Let us remind you that on the morning of December 1, the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas expired. There was no information about its extension. At the same time, the IDF accused Hamas of shelling its territory.
