The identity of a Yakut citizen who died in a fire in a hostel in Almaty has been established. His body will be delivered to his homeland. This was announced by the Minister for External Relations and Peoples’ Affairs of the Republic of Yakutia Gavril Kirillin.

Yakut resident German Andreev died in a fire in a hostel in Almaty“, he said in a conversation with RIA News.

Kirillin clarified that the deceased was a native of Zhigansk and arrived in Kazakhstan on April 5 of this year. According to the minister, the procedure for registering the transportation of his body to his homeland is currently underway. The Russian Foreign Ministry is assisting in this.

Earlier it became known that the tenant of the hostel where the tragedy occurred was detained. An interdepartmental investigative and operational group has been created. It included experienced law enforcement officers. The necessary examinations have been scheduled.

Let us remind you that a fire in a hostel in Almaty broke out early in the morning of November 30 in the basement of a three-story residential building. As a result of the incident, 13 people died. Later, law enforcement officers clarified that the victims were four foreigners: two Russians and two citizens of Uzbekistan. The rest of the dead were Kazakhstanis. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that those responsible for the incident will be held accountable according to the law.
