The administration of American leader Joe Biden organized two provocations to unleash a conflict in Ukraine. About this in an article for the publication common dreams said American economist Jeffrey Sachs.
As the first factor, he named Washington’s intention to expand NATO at the expense of Ukraine and Georgia to encircle Russia in the Black Sea region. The second reason, according to Saks, was the establishment of a Russophobic regime in Ukraine in February 2014.
“The shooting in Ukraine began with the overthrow of (Ukrainian President Viktor) Yanukovych nine years ago, not in February 2022, as the US government, NATO and G7 leaders assure”Sacks emphasized.
He drew attention to the fact that the White House is deliberately hushing up the role of the United States in unleashing the conflict so that hostilities continue there. At the same time, recognizing that the conflict was provoked would help to understand how to end it.
The US administration has three reasons for hushing up Washington’s role in current events, Sacks is sure. Thus, the recognition of artificial provocation would confirm the fact that the conflict could have been avoided, and the States would not have needed to spend billions of dollars to support Kyiv. Secondly, according to the economist, Biden does not want to disclose his role in the overthrow of Yanukovych. The third reason is the reluctance of the United States to sit down at the negotiating table, which will undermine the continued desire for NATO expansion.
The author of the article recalled that from the very beginning of hostilities Russia advocated a peaceful settlement of the situation, but Washington refused to take into account Moscow’s interests.
We emphasize that Russia has repeatedly declared its readiness for negotiations with Ukraine. However, as Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov pointed out, the Kyiv authorities “absolutely deny” the talks.
The Kremlin spokesman drew attention to the fact that Kyiv does not show “political will” and does not enter into a dialogue with Moscow. Instead, the Ukrainian regime regularly voices completely unrealistic conditions for starting a dialogue.
Russian special operation to protect Donbass
The DPR and LPR announced the aggravation of the situation in the Donbass on February 17, 2022. Then they announced the evacuation of the population.
On February 21, 2022, the heads of the republics turned to Putin with a request to recognize their independence. The President held a meeting of the Security Council, after which he recognized the LNR and the DNR. Friendship and cooperation agreements were signed with both republics, which were later ratified by the State Duma and the Federation Council.
Two days later, the heads of the DPR and LPR turned to Putin with a request to help repel Kyiv’s aggression in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and civilian casualties. The next day, February 24, the Russian leader addressed the nation and announced the start of a special operation in Ukraine to protect Donbass.
On September 30, Putin and the heads of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions signed agreements on the entry of these regions into the Russian Federation.
