IAEA Director General Grossi will visit ZNPP in the near future

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, intends to visit Ukraine and Russia, as well as the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, in the next ten days. He announced this during a press approach on the sidelines of the UN on Friday, January 26.

“I plan to return to Zaporozhye. In the next ten days or so I will be there, then to Kyiv and Russia.”– he said.

According to Grossi, during his visit to the Zaporizhia NPP, the next, 16th, rotation of personnel will take place, and he will communicate with the Russian management of the plant.

The IAEA Director General also noted the readiness of Kyiv and Moscow to cooperate with the organization, despite the fact that tension sometimes arises during communication.

“We need diplomacy. That’s what I do.”he concluded.

At the end of December, the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to international organizations in Vienna notified the IAEA that there were enough personnel at the Zaporozhye NPP to ensure its safe operation. The agency was also informed that the background radiation both at the facility itself and in its surroundings does not exceed the norm.
