Gaza authorities raise number of Palestinians killed by Israeli offensive to nearly 28,500

The toll of Palestinians killed due to the offensive launched by the Israeli army against the Gaza Strip after the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) rose to around 28,500, as reported this Tuesday by the authorities of the enclave, controlled by the Islamist group.

The Gaza Ministry of Health stressed in a statement that “The toll of Israeli aggression has increased to 28,473 martyrs and 68,146 wounded since October 7” before detailing that during the last 24 hours 133 deaths and 162 injuries were confirmed.

Thus, he underlined, “the Israeli occupation committed 16 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip” during the last day, before warning that many victims “are still under the rubble and lying on the roads”. “The occupation prevents ambulances and Civil Defense personnel from accessing it,” he stressed.

The Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip was launched after the aforementioned Hamas attacks, which left 1,200 people dead and 240 injured. Added to this toll are 384 Palestinians killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem by Israeli security forces and during attacks carried out by settlers.
