The Hungarian Parliament has ratified Sweden’s application to join the North Atlantic Alliance.

At the spring session, during the final vote, 188 deputies were in favor of ratification, six were against it, and four deputies did not vote. The broadcast was carried out on the parliament website.

It should be noted that in January Türkiye ratified Sweden’s membership in NATO. After this, Hungary remained the only country that did not do this.

Now Sweden will officially become the 32nd member of the North Atlantic Alliance.

In October 2023, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson made a statement that Stockholm was ready to assume responsibility within NATO. According to him, the country can make a significant contribution to the defense power of the alliance, but the politician did not specify what exactly.
