Joshua Jackson (45) returns to the big screen. After nearly a decade without a film project, the former Dawson’s Creek star will appear in the new film The Karate Kid, reports Hollywood Reporter.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters later this year and is described as a coming-of-age martial arts film. It’s about a Chinese teenager who finds strength and guidance on America’s east coast “through a tough but wise mentor and martial arts,” it says. The lead role is played by Ben Wang (24), known for the Disney+ series “Chinese in America.” Also to be seen are Jackie Chan (69) and Ralph Macchio (62), as announced a few months ago.

The script was written by Rob Lieber (48) and directed by Jonathan Entwistle (39), known for his work on The End of the F***ing World. The new film “The Karate Kid” will be released on December 13th.
