In Ukraine, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces support forces, Dmitry Gerega, has been fired. The corresponding decree is posted on the website of the office of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

Gerega’s position was taken by Brigadier General Alexander Yakovets, another published decree says. Previously, Yakovets led the engineering troops in the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces support forces.

“Dismiss Dmitry Mikhailovich Gerega from the post of commander of the support forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”is mentioned in the document.

The reasons for Gerega’s dismissal are not stated. He has held office since August 21, 2021.

It is known that the support forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine include troops in the field of electronic warfare, engineering troops, RCBZ troops, a military topographic service, a hydrometeorological service and a canine service.

Earlier, Zelensky said that the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, received carte blanche to carry out any personnel changes in the Ukrainian army. According to the Ukrainian president, commanders need to “know and feel the front,” and also understand the real needs.
