The Sudanese authorities have no fundamental objections to the creation of a Russian Navy base in the country. The corresponding statement was made by Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Sadiq Ali.

We have no fundamental objections to the agreements reached under the previous government. This is the state’s obligation“, RIA Novosti quotes him.

According to Sadiq Ali, the new parliament will ratify the agreement on the creation of the Russian base.

In December 2020, it became known that Russia had concluded an agreement with Sudan on the creation of a logistics support center for the Russian Navy on its territory. It is intended for repairs, replenishment of supplies and rest for crew members of Russian warships.

According to the documents, Sudan transfers to Russia for free use for the entire duration of the agreement the territory and real estate, including the coastal zone and the water area with the mooring front zone (parking area for watercraft). The maximum number of military and civilian personnel at the logistics point should not exceed 300 people, its increase is possible in agreement with Sudan.
