The Philippines has issued a tsunami warning following a magnitude 7.5 earthquake in Taiwan. The Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Philippines reported this.

The coastal areas of the Philippine islands will encounter high tsunami waves from the Pacific Ocean, according to the institute’s forecast.

“Residents of coastal areas are strongly advised to immediately evacuate to higher ground or move away from the sea.”the institute urged in a statement.

According to NHK television, the tsunami caused by the earthquake has already reached the coast of the Japanese island of Yenaguni.
